Here’s how to Install Sinhala Unicode Support on Kubuntu also this may work with (Ubuntu/Mint/Debian)

මෙන්න හොද ආරංචියක්….. ! Linux 2.6 kernel එක iPhone platform එකට දාලා, දැනට iPhone මත දුවන්නේ MacOS වල පොඩි (strip down) version එකක්, MacOS හැදිලා තියෙන්නේ FreeBSD Kernel එක යොදාගෙන.
මේක boot කරන්නේ openiboot කියන boot loader එක යොදාගෙන, iPhone එක මත දුවන්නේ ARM (Advanced RISC Machine) වර්ගයේ CPU එකක්, දන්නා තරමින් 620Mhz වේගයකින්. පරණ Apple පරිගනක, IBM AS/400 වගේම SUN Spark system බාවිතා කරනේ මේ RISC (Reduced instruction set computer) කියන වර්ගයේ CPU, නමුත් අපි පාවිචිකරන පරිගනක x86 CISC (Complex instruction set computer) කියන වර්ගයේ CPU තමයි, නව Mac පර්ගනකද දැන් එන්නේ x86 CPU ම තමයි.
දැනට ගොඩක් Windows Mobile බාවිතා කරනේද මේ ARM ගනයේ CPU තමයි, මීට අමතරව Intel xScale CPU ද යොදාගන්නවා, දැනට Google සමාගම විසින් නිකුත් කරපු Android කියන Mobile Phone OS එකද ලිනක්ස් kernel එකක් මත දුවන් එකකි.
මේක හැමෝටම තියන ගැටලුවක්නේ, කටියක් වින්ඩොස් සමග එන IIS (Internet Information Services) හොදයි කියනවා, කට්ටියක් Apache හොදයි කියනව, නමුත් කිසිම හේතු සාදක නොදීනේ මේවා කියන්නේ, අද මම බැලුවේ මේක ගැන තර්කාත්මකව කතා කරන්න, මොකද මම හිතනවා මේක ගැන මට කියන්න පුලුවන් තරම් මේ දෙකම බාවිතා කරල තියන පලපුරුද්ද තියනවා කියලා. මොකද මම තාමත් ඔය දෙකම බාවිතා කරනවා.
මම මේ දෙකම දැනට වසර 7-8 සිට බාවිතා කරනවා, Apache නම්, වින්ඩොස් හා ලිනක්ස් යන ඔය දෙක මත. ඔය දෙකම production environment වල තමයි බාවිතා කරල තියෙන්නේ, ඒ කියන්නේ server යක ඩොමේන් 1000-2000 පමණ තියන 
මම අද කතාකරනේ IIS6 (Windows 2003) හා Apache2 ගැන තමයි, IIS7 හා Apahe2.2 ගැන වැඩිය කියන්නේ නෑ, මොකද ඒවා ගැන කියන්න තරම් මම ඒවා බාවිතා කරල නෑ.
ඔන්න මමත් උදේපාන්දර දැම්මානේ Google Chrome, කියලා වැඩක් නෑ…. පටස් හාලා ඉන්ස්ටොල් නම් උනා… ඒත් මොකද උනේ…
මගේ තියෙන්නේ Windows XP EN SP3 with Symantec Endpoint Protection 11, මම හිතුවා පලවෙන පාර අල උනහම මේක Symantec එකේ අව්ලක් කියලා, මම ඒක ගැලවලා බැලුවා…. වෙනසක් නෑ… අල !

මම මේ ලගදි කල්පනා කරා කොහොමද මගේ PS2 (Play Station 2) එක Media Center එකක් කරන්නේ කියලා, ඔය MP3, DviX වගේදේවල් දුවන්න. හොයාගෙන යනකොට මේක හරි ලේසි වැඩක්. හැබැයි හැක් කරන වැඩ කරන්නනම් PS2 එක MOD Chip එකක් ඕනේ. මගේ PS2 එක කොහොමත් MOD chip (Modification Chip) එකක් දාලා තියෙන්නේ. මේකෙන් කරන්න ඇත්තටම PS2 එක එන Original protection ඉවත් කිරීමයි. ඒ කියන්නේ CD-R වල වගේ Copy කරපු ගේම් හා DRM (Digital Rights) වගේ දේවල් වලට ඇති restrictions නැතිකිරීමයි. ගොඩක් ඔය MC විකුනන්න තියන PS2 ඒවා මේ විදියට MOD Chip සවිකරපුවා තමයි, නැත්න්ම් රු.6000 වගේ මේක කරගන්න පුලුවන්.
හරි දැන් බලමු මේක කරන්නේ කොහොමද කියලා. මතක තියාගන්න මේක කරන්න ඔය MOD chip සවිකරපු PS2 එකක් ඕනේ, මම මේක කරන්නේ SLIM PS2 එකක් යොදාගෙන තමයි.

මම අද කතා කරන්නේ වින්ඩෝස් මත Virtualbox කියන software එක යොදාගෙන කොහොමද තව OS එකක් හෝ කීපයක් ඉන්ස්ටෝල් කරන්නේ කියලා. මේක ගොඩක් වෙලාවට වැදගත් testing වගේම presentation වගේ දේවල් කරන විට. අනික හොඳම එක තමයි මේ software එක නොමිලේ තමයි personal usage එකට ලබාදෙන්නේ. ජර්මානු software සමාගමක් වන Innotek සමාගම තමයි මෙය මුලින්ම ආරම්භ කළේ, දැන් Sun Microsystems ආයතනය තමයි මෙය Open Source ලෙස දියුණුකර ලබාදෙන්නේ.
දැනට Windows, Linux, MAC OS and (Open)Solaris මත මෙය install කළ හැකි අතර, මෙය ආධාරයෙන් දැනට බොහෝ OS install කළ හැක. මෙන්න ලැයිස්තුව
මුලින්ම මේ චන්ද්රිකා (Satellite) ගැන අදහස ලොවට කිව්වේ අපේ ලංකාවේ ජීවත්ව සිටි ආතර් සී ක්ලාක් මහතා. 1945 දී Wireless World සගරාවේ මෙය පල විය. මෙම සැටලයිට් වර්ග දෙකක් ඇත, ස්වාභාවික (Natural satellite) හා මිනිසුන් විසින් සාදන ලද (Artificial satellites). ස්වාභාවික චන්ද්රිකා කියන්නේ ඔය සඳ (චන්ද්රයා), උල්කාපාත වැනි විශ්වයේ ඇති ස්වාභාවික දේවලටය. නමුත් මම මේ කතාකරන්නේ මේවා ගැන නොවෙයි. මිනිසුන් විසින් සාදන ලද චන්ද්රිකා ගැන. ඒවා යොදාගෙන කොහොමද මේ රුපවාහිනී වැඩසටහන් විකාශනය කරන්නේ කියලා. දැනට ලංකාවේ මේ ආකාරයට වැඩසටහන් චන්ද්රිකා යොදාගෙන විකාශනය කරන්නේ ඩයලොග් සමාගම මගින්, ඩයලොග් ටිවී ලෙස.
අපි බලමු මේ communication satellite (සන්නිවේදන චන්ද්රිකා) එකක් කියන්නේ මොකද්ද කියලා.
මම වින්ඩොස් විස්ටාවල තියෙන tricks වගයක් හොයාගත්තා. විස්ටා එක්ක සෙල්ලම් දාගෙන ඉන්නකොට…. මෙන්න ඒවා ගෙන් ටිකක්… එකක් තමයි තමන්ගේ favorite programs කී බෝර්ඩ් (Keyboard) එක මගින් start කරන එක, අනික windows explore වගේ ඒවාගේ menu bar එක show, hide කිරීම. Alt-Tab මගින් running application අතර මාරුවෙනවා වාගේ task bar එකේ ඇති application අතර මාරුවන්නේ කොහොම්ද කියලා, අන්තිම එක RAM මදි නම් වින්ඩොස් විස්ටාවල ඇති ready boost පාව්ච්චි කර ප්රොග්රෑම් වේගය වැඩ්කරගන්නා ආකාරය.
දුකයි, ඒත් අන්තිම මට ලිනක්ස්වලට සමුදෙන්න වුණා ! මේකට හේතුව මගේ අළුත් ලැප්ටොප් එක. මොකද ඒකේ wifi හා sound card එක හරියට වෑඩකරන්නේ නෑ ලිනක්ස්වල. මම ගොඩක් උත්සාහ කළා මේක හදා ගන්න, හරි ගියේ නෑ. kubuntu හා fedora දෙකම බැලුවා. madwifi හා ndiswrapper දාලා බැලූව wifi වලට, ALSA කීප වතාවක් දැම්මා sound වලට. sound ආවත් හරි Quality එකක් නෑ…. බැරිම තැන Windows Vista දැම්මා, මොකද ලැප් එක එක්ක ආපු නිසා. ඇත්තටම ගොඩක් හොඳයි වගේ…. මේක තමයි Windows වල ඉදන් ලියන පලමු බ්ලොග් පොස්ට් එක Windows Live Writer පාව්ච්චි කරන්නත් අදහසක් තියනවා මීට පසු බ්ලොග් එක ලියන්න.
ඔබ ලිනක්ස් ලෝලියෙක් නම් මෙතනින් එහාට කියවන්න එපා
මෙන්න වෙසක් එකට fun එකක් ගන්න එක්ක තමන්ම හදමු bulb bulb flasher එකක්.
මතක තියාගන්න ඔබට මේ පිළිබඳ යම් දුරකට දැනුමක් නැත්නම් මේවා කිරීමෙන් වැලකී සිටීම සුදුසුයි, නැතිනම් දන්නා අයෙකුගේ උපදෙස් උදව් ලබාගන්න. මොකද 230V විදුලිය නොදැන භාවිතය මරු කැඳවිය හැක.
මෙන්න මම පොරොන්දු වුණා වගේ මේක ලියනවා. Pidgin වල සිංහල type කරන්නේ කොහොමද කියලා. හරිම ලෙහෙසියි. අලුත් Pidgin version එකක් ඕනේ. මම මේක කරන්නේ 2.4.1 වල.
Pidgin start කරලා Tools -> Plugins වෙත යන්න.
මෙන්න කාටත් Windowsවල Pidgin Use කරන අයට තියන issue එකක්, සිංහල Unicode පේන්නෙ නැති එක. ඒකට පිළියමක් අද මම හොයාගත්තා. මේක මම කළේ windows xp sp2 හා Pidgin 2.4.1 වල.
Start -> Programs -> Gtk+ -> Theme Selector ගොස්, “Current User” Theme එක [Always follow global settings] කරන්න. “Global” Theme එක MS-Windows ඇර වෙන ඕනැම එකක් දමන්න.

මේක හරි ලේසියි, මුලින්ම adept Manager එක Open කර ගන්න.
here’s how to Install Sinhala Unicode Input Support in Windows Vista. before you begin make sure you meet the following.
1. Windows Vista (Any Edition) (For Windows XP Click Here)
2. Tested with NO Service Packs Installed, may or my not work with SP1
3 You have log in to an Administrative Account on your computer.
4. Testing was done on a English Language Operating System and may no work in other language operating systems.
4. Downloading was done using the Internet Explore and message will be deferent if you use any other browser.
5. Vista is capable of displaying Sinhala Unicode even with out doing any installation and it has the Keyboard Support built in.
Step 1.
Go to http://www.siyabas.lk click the “Get Sinhala” Link on the top of the Page. you will get forwarded to
Sinhala Download Page.
Step 2.
Click on the Link “Windows Vista”
Step 3.
Click on “http://www.siyabas.lk/files/VistaQuickFix.exe” and download the VistaQuickFix.exe
Step 4.
Select “Save” when the System prompt you.
Step 5.
System will ask you to select a location to save the file, i have selected the default download location, just click “Save”
Step 6.
File will get downloaded, please allow some time; once the download is finished, click “Close”
Step 7.
Now you need to go to the place where you have save the file to, if you have save the file in the default download location, go to “Start –> Your User Name ”
Step 8.
you will see the “VistaQuickFix.exe” file on the download folder. double click the file and open it.
Step 8.
You will see a Security Wanning asking your authorization to open the file, just say “Run”
Step 9.
There will be a security Alert saying the file is not from a verified source, please say “Allow”
Step 10.
Setup will start automatically.
Step 11.
Click “Next” to continue.
Step 12.
Setup will ask you to select the installation directory, just click “Next”; it will get installed in the default program directory.
Step 13.
Setup will do the installation.
Step 18.
If all went successfully, the system will alert saying the Installation successful. click “OK”
Step 19.
On your talk bar where you “Clock” is you will see a red color icon with Sinhala letter “V” (වී); and “EN” icon, click on the “EN” icon and you will see a menu like below and click “Sinhala” when you want to type in Sinhala.
Your Done, Enjoy !.
here’s how to install Sinhala & Tamil Unicode Support in Windows. before you begin make sure you meet the following.
1. Windows XP Professional – Home or Media Center Edition. (For Windows Vista Click Here)
2. Service Pack 2 Installed. (if you don’t have this, get it here and install it first.)
** If you have Service Pack 3, Download the Following File ***
3 You have log in to an Administrative Account on your computer.
4. Testing was done on a English Language Operating System and may no work in other language operating systems.
Step 1.
Go to http://www.siyabas.lk click the “Get Sinhala” Link on the top of the Page. you will get forwarded to
Sinhala Download Page.
Step 2.
Click “Windows XP” link now
Step 3.
Click on http://www.siyabas.lk/files/SinhalaTamilKit_XP.exe Download the Sinhala Tamil Unicode Kit for XP File (Make sure to save the file in your Desktop or on a place you can remember.)
Step 4.
Allow Time for the Sinhala Tamil Unicode to get downloaded.
Step 5.
Now open the file SinhalaTamilKit_XP.exe by double clicking it.
Step 6.
Windows may alert you by asking your permission to allow the file to be run, say “Run”
Step 7.
Installation of Sinhala Tamil Unicode Kit will start automatically.
Step 8.
Sinhala Tamil Unicode Setup will ask if you want to install SinhalaTamin Kit, Say “Yes”
Step 9.
Sinhala Tamil Unicode Setup will ask you to close any open programs, before you click “OK” make sure you have closed any running programs on your computer.
Step 10.
Sinhala Tamil Unicode Kit will automatically copy the files.
Step 11.
Sinhala Tamil Unicode Kit installation is done, click “OK” and after this Sinhala Enabling Pack form Microsoft will start to install Automatically.
Step 12.
You will see the Microsoft Windows XP Sinhala Enabling Pack Setup Wizard Start Automatically, Click “Next” for the Wizard to Start.
Step 13.
You will see the Microsoft Windows XP Sinhala Enabling Pack License Agreement, Click “I Agree” and Click “Next”
Step 14.
Allow Windows XP Sinhala Enabling Pack to install automatically.
Step 15.
If every thing was successful, you will see a message saying “Completing the Windows XP Sinhalese Enabling Pack Setup Wizard”, Click “Finish” this will automatically restart your computer. Please allow if to restart.
Setp 16.
One you have restart your computer, click on the “EN” icon you see on your task bar, you will see English, Tamil & Sinhala support is installed and working. To test it go to http://sinhala.kalingasblog.com if yous see Sinhala properly, then you have done it.
Step 17.
