Media Center එකක් සෑදීම – 3වෙනි කොටස (VFD Display + Software)
අද මේ Media Center ගැන ලියන අන්තිම ඒක, ඒ කිවුවේ Atom Media Center ලිපි මාලාවේ අවසාන එක. පහුගිය දෙකම කියවන්න ඇතිනේ ? නැත්නම් ඉසෙල්ලා ඒ ටික කියවන්න. දෙවනි කොටසේදී මම 3වන ලිපියේ කතා කරන්න ඕනේ ඒවා ලිස්ට් කරා, තුන්වන කොටසේ කතාකරන්න යන්නේ
- Front panel එකේ Display එකක් සවිකිරීම.
- Head Phone jack සවිකිරීම.
- Software configuration.
පලමු කොටසේ කියපු එක දෙයක් වෙනස් උනා, ඒක තමයි Default audio player එක හැටියට iTunes යොදාගන්න එක, නමුත් ඒක පොඩ්ඩක් වෙනස් වෙලා දැන් මම යොදාගන්නේ Winamp, මේකට හේතු උනේ iTunes වල keyboard shortcut මදිකම හා Front panel display එක්ක දත්ත හුවමාරුවට ආපූ ගැටලු නිසා. නමුත් Winamp ද iPhone එක හරහා පාලනය කිරීමට පුලුවන්, නමු මේ සදහා application එකක් (iAmpRemote) මිලදී ගත යුතුයි. රු.550 වගේ මිලට.
පොඩ්ඩක් බලමු කොහොමද මම ඇතුලේ සවිකිරීම කරලා තියෙන්නේ කියලා.
motherboard එක සවිකර ඇත්තේ පැත්තට නිසා, සියලුම VGA, Ethernet වගේ ඒවා cable හා connectors යොදා පිටුපස පැනලයට සවි කරන්න උනේ, මේ කේබල් ඔබට සාදාගන්න වෙනවා. Front Panel එකේ සිට Play, Stop, Pause, Forward, Rewind, Next Track, Previous Track වගේම shuffle හා Repeat ද වැඩකරන ලෙස PS/2 Keyboard එකේ සිට Front Panel keyboard එකට සවිකරලා තියෙනේ.
Front panel එකේ Display එකක් සවිකිරීම.
දැන් බලමු කොහොමද Display එකක් හයි කරනේ කියලා. දැනට CD Player එක එක්ක ආපු එක බාවිතා කරන්න ටිකක් අපහසු නිසා මම Samsung VFD (Vacuum Fluorescent Display) එකක් මිලදී ගත්තා, රු.3000 වගේ මිලක් ගියා. මේක 2×20 Display එකක්, ඒ කියනේ පේලී දෙකක් හා එක පේලියක 20ක් අකුරු පෙන්විය හැකියි කියන එක.
මෙතියෙන්නෙ ගත්ත Display එක, ස්තානය නම් eBay.
මේක ගන්න හේතුවක් නම් මේක සෑදීලා තියෙන්නේ සම්මත HD44780 කියන Hitachi microcontroller එකකෙන්. මේක කෙලින්ම PC එකේ LPT (Printer Port) එක හරහා පාලනය කරන්න පුලුවන්. මේසදහාට Display to LTP cable එකක් සදාගන්න වෙනවා. මේහැම jack/base එකක්ම පිටකොටුවෙන් අඩු මිලකට ගන්න පුලුවන්, රිබන් cable එකක් ගන්න එක වඩාත් පහසුයි.
හරි ඉහත පෙනෙනේ සදාගත් Display එක වැඩ කරන හැටි. මේක දාවන කරන්න software උවමනානේ, නැත්නම් එකක් ලියාගන්න පුලුවන් 
ලේසි වැඩේ තමයි LCD Smartie කිය software එක බාවිතා කරන එක.
මෙන්න තියනවා සාදානිමක Media Center එක, Remote එක වැඩ කරන එක.
Head Phone jack සවිකිරීම.
මේ සදහා මෙම යොදාගත්තේ CD-Player එකේ ආපු head phone AMP එකමයි, ඒක ගලවා වෙන්කොට ඒකට sound card එකේ audio out එක සවිකර Power ලබා දුනා. මේ සදහා මට 9v-0-9v ඩුවල් power supply එකක් සාදාගනන් විය, දැනට ATX power supply වල -12v හා +12v ඇතිනිසා 7809 හා 7909 Regulator IC දෙකක් යොදාගන තමයි මෙය සිදුකරේ.
ඉහද රූපයේ දිස්වෙන්නෙ head phone amp එක.
Software configuration.
මේ ගැන ලොකුවට සිතන්න දෙයක් නෑ, Windows Media Center එක දාපුවහම එහි DVD/TV/CD වගේ සියල්ල ලස්ස්නට දිස්වෙනවා. CD එකක් දැමූ විට එය අන්තර්ජාලය හරහා ගොස් එහි නම පවා පෙන්වනවා. remote එක හරහා මේ සියල්ල පාලනය කරන්න පුලුවන්.
K-Lite Codec pack එක install කරගැනීම වැදගත්.
Auto Player එක Winamp නිසා ඒ ගැන කියනන් දෙයක් නෑ නේ. ගැටලු තියනවානම් අහන්න comment එකක් හැටියට.

VFD ම වෙන්න ඕනේ නෑ, ලාබ LCD එකක් උවද යොදාගන්න පුලුවන්. මම දැක්ක පිටකොටුවේ එහෙම තියනවා, හරියට හොයාගන්න බරිඋනා ඒවගේ විස්තර. පොඩක් රවුමක් ගැහුවානම් හොයාගන්න පුලුවන්. VFD එකක් බාවිතා කරේ ලස්සන්ට, LCD එහම ගොඩක් ලස්සනට පේන්නේ නෑනේ.
අනික LCD ගන්නකොට back light තිය්නවාද කියලා හොදට හොයලා බලලා ගන්න.

How can i fit this VFD in to 5.25 Drive Bays (assuming im going to buy mATX HTPC case), is there any other low priced options?

there are many options for 5.25 bay, stuff like iMon (kind a expensive) or if you each eBay u can find many. but VFD’s are expensive compared to LCD

both of them are FAN controls, u cant interconnect them with your PC,

else if your up 2 the challenge, u can get a normal VFD and hack a bay cover and put a VFD on it.

yeah thats will work with MCE and other things but not sure if it will run on Linux, the one i talk about does support linux with LinuxMCE etc

මම Intel Atom processor එකක් දාලා NAS එකක් අටව ගන්න කියලා, ඒකේ performance කොහොමද කියලා හොයද්දී ඔයාගේ post එක දැක්කේ. මාර සිරා වැඩක් නේ ඔයා කරලා තියෙන්නේ. එලම කිරි.

NAS එකකට හොදටම ඇති, මම දැනට NAS එකක් බාවිතා කරනවා VIA C7 CPU එකක් තියන MiniITX එකක්, දැන් අවුරුදු 2කක් විතර කිසිම කරදරයක් නෑ, දුවන්නේ FreeNAS ලේසයි, පහසුයි. Atom එකක් වැඩිත් එක්ක.

ඉස්සර Campus එකේ Torrent block කරපු lab වලින් ලොකු Torrent බාන්න try කළා ඕකෙන්. බැරි උනා.

Can’t we buy a Home Theater System at a very lower price than this. No need to buy seperate speakers, amplifiers, ets..
Any way you have done a great job. Very creative. For experimental purposes these are very good, provided you have enough money.
Please correct me, if I am wrong.

well, its like this gimhana, i have all my media in digital format, meaning on HDD’s or should i say on a NAS, since i have around 1.5TB of data, say i got a cheap home theater system, still i need a way to play the data i have on my HDD’s, 1 way is to have a system with USB/Network media support, else i need some thing like this http://sinhala.kalingasblog.com/2008/05/17/hdd-media-players/ but with this i can have lot of flexibility, have youtube on my tv, radio, online streaming and lot more.
it didnt really cost me much, less then 25,000 i guess.

ඔක්කොම කියන්නේ, Eject, Play, Pause, Stop, FF, RW, Next, Priv, Shuffle, Single, Display වගේ ඒවා වැඩ, නම්බරින් නම් වැඩ කරන්න හදන්න පුලුවන්, නමුත් තේරුමක් නෑ කියලා සිතුනා.

i did try to find one but no luck. guess in SL they dont know much about this and guess there is not much of a market for it.
