i have given up M3 some time back, i do have a connection still, witch i use to test every day the speed are like a dialup and not stable at all. not only you, ever mobitel user has the same issue. mobitel just ignore it, sayings we are cheap

Hi, I am having many issues with Mobiltel M3 now. Download speeds at times are less than 10KBps. Are you observing similar performances ?

So tell me whats the best net connection in sri lanka? when we talk about m3 according 2 u, its nt suit 4 me.dialog also same. im using adsl. but its speed is suck maximum speed is 0.05mb per sec. im currently using 512kb… but other packages r too expensive. so slt should thing about there customers …but m3 is speeder than this.. i think its average around 0.1mb per sec.so its enough 4 me. but u said that there r some connection droping (m3).. so is it true?

this is due to a brake in the SE-ME-WE 4 cable, this should be fixed with in few days.

when getting an HSDPA, check with people around your are, thats the best way to see witch is best, since HSDPA quality depend on the area your on.

Damn. im using ADSL… this connection is damn suck.ADSL speed is nt always good.i hate this. so im gonna buy m3 . but according 2 ur comments ,nw i m affraid 2 buy it . any way i hate dialog too. wat can i doo?????

well, during the day time rather off peak, speeds are OK, but this is where i live, but during the peak time its slower, around 300~400kbps, but better then dialog here.

cant say issues are not there, its there. use to be better during the last month or so, after the package price down and upahara, data the speeds has gone down a lot.

Yes, when comparing a 3G phone and modem, using modem is faster. If its a 3.5G phone then speed when compared to modem should be similar.

speed depend on the type of phone and your connection.

say you have a 3G phone then you can go max of 386kbps, if you phone has HSDPA, then you can go at the speeds it support, check the phone specifications to see the speed.

i have a LG KU990, that support 3.6mbps, but that don’t mean you will get 3.6mbps

if you use Dialog (god help you) can get around 512kbps, if your lucky !! if you use Mobitel, you will get around 1mbps

3.5G phones include Nokia n95,n82,n96, SE K850,K660,W910,W890,C902 ect. No idea about other brands,but nearly all over 30,000/- i guess. You can use 3G phones for internet
Access but speed is something around 300+ kbps, so will not be able to use the 3.5G service offered by the networks. 3G phones like SE K530 are around for sale for less than 15,000 or more.
All 3G phones are suitable for internet Access by connecting to a pc via cable or bluetooth.If its a 3.5G(HSDPA) phone speed is much faster. 1Mbps [m3] as opposed to 300 something Kbps when using a 3G phone. As for modems there are the e220 of huwawei and mf620 of Zte. Prices of most are@dialog’s
and mobitel’s websites.

i am a student and after going through all the info on the web as well as this blog on M3 vs Dialog Broadband i opted to get myself a M3 connection, according to my view the main drawback about M3 is the extremely high cost of their USB modems and in this regard Dialog has a distinctive advantage bcos they retail around 10,000/- the E220 modem (Locked,thats what they say in the w.site), while at Mobitel it is around 18,000/-(Unlocked), i was able to get my hands on a modem which is locked to certain network (guess what?? and unlock it by patching and flashing. workable methods are all over the web and its simply a question on following them accurately. I have not had any problems with my BB connection so far and didn’t see any noticeable problems since last month when i started initially, hope it stays that way, i have attached a copy of the Speedtest result i just got now, and im on the 250/- package, want to thank all you guys for starting and contributing to this blog, it had immensely helped ppl like me to get a good bargain when it comes to Mobile BB connections.
