How to setup Sinhala Unicode Input (Typing) Support on Pidgin (Gaim) for Windows
මෙන්න මම පොරොන්දු වුණා වගේ මේක ලියනවා. Pidgin වල සිංහල type කරන්නේ කොහොමද කියලා. හරිම ලෙහෙසියි. අලුත් Pidgin version එකක් ඕනේ. මම මේක කරන්නේ 2.4.1 වල.
Pidgin start කරලා Tools -> Plugins වෙත යන්න.
දැන් ලැබෙන plugins list window එකේ, “Pidgin GTK+ Theme Control” කියන plugin එක Enabled කරන්න, ඉන්පසු “Configure Plugin” click කරන්න.
දැන් ලැබුණ windows එකේ “General” යටතේ ඇති “GTK+ Interface Font” එන select කර, එයට ඉදිරින් ඇති button එක Click කර, ලැබෙන window එකෙන් “Iskola Pota” font එක තෝරා “OK” කරන්න.
මෙලෙස “Fonts” යටතේ ඇති “Conversation Entry”, “Request Dialog” හා “Notify Dialog” select කර, ඒවා වලද එකිනෙකට පෙර පරිදි “Iskola Pota” font එක තෝරාගෙන “OK” කරන්න.
ඉන්පසුව “Gtkrc File Tools” යටතේ ඇති “Write settings to %APPDATA%\.purple\gtkrc-2.0″ button එක click කර save කරගන්න.
දැන් Pidgin restart කරන්න.
දැන් සිංහලෙන් type කරන්න. හරි නේ ?

In my case only I can do is typing in sinhala. But can’t see any receiving text. What to do???????

type this on the RUN “notepad %APPDATA%\.purple\gtkrc-2.0″
and enter this line to the top
gtk-font-name = “Iskoola Pota 10″
and save the file.
also try
type this on the RUN – “notepad %USERPROFILE%\.gtkrc-2.0″
enter the line
gtk-theme-name = “Mist”
save file
restart pidgin.
